My background as a Speech and Language Therapist involves working in local authority and independent education.
These roles have informed my perspectives on service delivery and what sort of private practice I want to provide.
I have experience in working with children who have a variety of communication needs associated with:
Childhood Apraxia of Speech
Inconsistent or consistent phonological disorder
Phonological delay
Repaired cleft palate
Developmental Language Disorder
Language Disorder associated with biomedical conditions
Selective Mutism
Moderate learning disabilities
Down Syndrome
Neurodivergent profiles including Autism, dyslexia, ADHD
My particular area of interest is speech. This forms the main focus of my private practice. Children who have speech difficulties find it difficult to articulate or use the right sounds and speech movement patterns in order to express themselves fully to others. This can affect their ability to be understood by others and may impact them socially or academically if intervention is not provided.
Whilst speech is a focus for me I enjoy working with children with a range of different communication needs. Being passionate about my profession as a Speech and Language Therapist grows from a passion to see children find their communication potential despite the challenges they may experience.
