I bring thoughtfulness and flexibility to the table as I work with your child. I am attentive to the needs and interests of others in order to understand where I may need to adopt a different approach. I regularly engage in development opportunities which means I am constantly reflecting on and tweaking my practice.
Collaborative working
I endeavour to cultivate good working relationships with key family members who know their child best and can play a key role in contributing to their outcomes. I am passionate about facilitating conversations which empower families with a clearer knowledge and understanding of their child's strengths needs and personalised therapy approaches. When requested I work in the child's education setting to deliver services and support access to the communication opportunities where they spend a lot of their time.
Child centred therapy
I always aim to tailor my service to the individual preferences and interests of the children I work with. For younger children this may include understanding their preferences through choices and simple rating scales, or by using games and toys they are motivated by. For older children this may include discussing the direction of therapy with them to jointly set and agree goals in line with their own communication priorities.
